Top Instagram-worthy Swim Styles for 2017 #mostlikes #swimweargoals

Swimsuit season is here now for warm weather winter getaways, and summer just around the corner – really!  While most blogs will tell you how to shop for your body type, a lot of us just want to know what suits are the key styles for this year, to guarantee that you will look amazing and right on trend to show off how much you have been working out, or maybe to cover up what could stand a little more working out.   So here it is, the Face This Swimwear Guide for 2017 with the top swimsuit styles of the year that flatter, reveal, or conceal, and are guaranteed to give you style points on Instagram:

The black one-piece suit:  look for styling details like cutouts, laser cut scalloped edges, and ruching, for a classic look where the only fuss is in the details.

Cutouts:  a well-placed cutout can flatter a silhouette like no other swimsuit can, as it reveals almost as much as it conceals while the eye travels, following the lines along your curves.

Floral bikinis: for a luxe boho look that is high on the feminine side while steering clear of last year’s hippie styles.

Strappy-backed one-pieces:  the back is back, and this year’s best one pieces have thin straps anchoring solid colored suits without any other distracting details.

White suits are the right suits: nothing innocent about this trend - look for suits with details such as ties, scallops, and bronze embellishments for a chic, sophisticated look that says high-maintenance.

Get graphic: nothing stands out in an instagram pic like a jolt of colorful, graphic design.  Look for suits where the graphic patterns and prints are complimented by the cut of the suit.

Strappy bikini tops: look for styles with new and original strap details that elevate the standard bikini top drawing the eye to the shoulders, back, and collarbones.

The black bikini:  the best black bikinis are simple but bold in their cut and shape and have a design quality to them for maximum visual impact.

Model Crush Monday – Frederikke Sofie

Being compared to Greek goddess Aphrodite and having a face right out of a Boticelli painting has done wonders for Frederikke Sofie’s career trajectory, taking her from fresh-faced teen in her homeland of Denmark, to the top runways and campaigns throughout the fashion industry.

There is no mistaking that main of pre-Raphaelite hair and that patrician face, and while a tall, lithe, classic beauty can always find a place in the modeling world, Frederikke has an edge and a modernity to her that have designers and brands clamoring for her.

Appearing in campaigns for Hugo Boss, Chloe, Zara, and MIssoni and being the new face of Dior Beauty places Frederikke at the top of list of up and coming models in model rankings.

Having a standout personal style has made Frederikke a favorite street style star.  She loves wearing men’s pants and leather shoes, which she claims are far more comfortable than sneakers anyway, which she pairs with classic, boxy shirts and sweaters giving her ultra-feminine appearance a tomboy charm.   You know you are on people’s radar when designers start appropriating elements of your personal style into their collections

Making her edgy street-cred style even more unique is her love of vintage eyeglasses and sunglasses.  She is often photographed wearing wire-framed, oversized aviators, or 70’s style round frames, and has had such an impact that she has started her own trend that is showing up in editorials and campaigns alike.  Classic geek-chic as worn by this beauty is so off that it’s on.

How to Wear the New Colorful Makeup

Now more than ever, makeup is exciting again, with so many new products, formulations and colors hitting the market just in time for spring.  In years past there were dominant looks that everyone copied….and copied, whether it suited them or not.  There has been a marked lack of originality as people cloned themselves with contour, heavy liner and lashes, and over-done eyebrows and lips, and finally the trend is swinging back into a fresh new take on beauty that is taking Instagram by storm.

The best new beauty bloggers and Instagrammers are creating amazingly colorful and bold makeup looks, and the result is so refreshing and fun.  It’s a case now of who can come up with the most original makeup without cloning, or overdoing it.  Many of these looks are infinitely wearable depending on the occasion, and by toning down certain elements, or focusing on one standout feature with color.

Here are three looks that are forward and fresh, and that can be toned down for a softer variation.  Nothing cartoony or fake about these looks, so don’t be afraid of a little color!

Model Crush Monday – Grace Hartzel

Once in a very blue moon a model comes along that sparks the imagination of designers, editors and photographers, with her ability to transform herself and to become different characters to suit each project.  American beauty Grace Hartzel is one of the break out models of the last year with her large, wide-set eyes and willowy body, going from covers to campaigns without batting an eyelash.

At merely twenty years old, Indiana native Grace began modeling when she was scouted in 2011, quickly making the leap from a new face to a standout runway star in short order, quickly racking up runway shows, covers, and campaigns, around the world.

Grace has loved transforming herself with style and makeup since she was a child, initially planning on an acting career before modeling became an option, so the transition to modeling was an easy one for her, going from goth, to ultra-feminine, to sixties mod, to 90's grunge, all while looking like the coolest girl that everyone wants to hang with.

Her chameleon-like ability and her willingness to hide her own identity in becoming a character make her a dream model for photographers and editors.  Having a great awareness of movement and instinctually knowing what the camera is seeing gives her an edge over other models who are bound by their look and brand.

Acting is definitely in the cards, as still photography is proving to be a training ground for Grace who recently shot the new commercial video for Salvatore Ferragamo’s fragrance Signorina Misteriosa and loved every second of it.  Such an animated, imaginative model should surely make the jump from printed pages to the big screen.  No doubt Grace will make it look easy.
