Oh hey, vacay! Girls Just Want to Have Sun: Swimsuits for Every Body with Budget in Mind

Happy Memorial Day! It is the official kickoff of summer and ready or not, swimsuit season is here.  Whatever your body type or budget, this year’s crop of suits is amazing, flattering, and chic, and there is a something for everyone.  No need to stress about looking like a swimwear model in a teensy-weensy triangle bikini.  Sleek one-pieces are the top choice this year, found in neutrals and nudes, citrus colors, crochet, lace, cutouts, and some with supportive wide straps or single shoulder details.  Bikinis are having a retro moment with high-waist bottoms, or sweet bow ties on the hips and on halter neck tops.  Looking for drama? No problem.  Something to stand up to water sports?  Got it.  Jaw dropping gorgeousness? Done.  I have found real-girl versions of the most stunning suits seen in this spring’s fashion editorials at prices that won’t break the bank, leaving you with funds leftover for some fun actually showing off your new look.  Isn’t fashion so much more fun when you find something that looks just as good as a high end (read “expensive”) piece?  I have included links to shop these pieces, so have fun!

SOS! Incoming Heatwave! Workday Beauty Products That Stop The Makeup-Meltdown in its Tracks

Ready or not summer is almost here and the reality is we will spend more time working than vacationing, so no matter how tempting a sunny, golden, beachy glow just isn’t going to cut it on the job.  We still have to put our best face forward, but it’s tough when the elements are conspiring to cause breakouts, oil slicks, and redness, as we watch out usual makeup literally slide of our face by midday.  A switch-up is in order and there are products to combat whatever nature brings, keeping our makeup fresh and firmly in place throughout the day.

The keyword to look for when choosing the right products for your skin type is ”mattifying”.  Start with a moisturizer that nourishes and hydrates while controlling oil and minimizing pores.  Follow up with a primer to even your skin tone, and then a foundation developed to control shine and to say put all day.  A broad spectrum sunscreen is still essential even if you are spending most of the day indoors and there are formulations that won’t alter your makeup or leave a chalky white residue. Finish up with a setting spray that is meant to hold your makeup in place and eliminate shine.  Pack a blur stick tube and blotting sheets in your handbag for touchups on the go.  By late afternoon your makeup will be right where you put it in the morning.  Save the beachy glow for evenings out and weekends.

Today’s announcement that Kering, the luxury group behind Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga, among others, will only hire models over 18 to represent adults on its runway shows and photo shoots could change all of that. As one of the most powerful forces in the industry, Kering has the ability to enact change at a scale few can match, something its chairman and CEO, François-Henri Pinault, acknowledges. “As a global luxury group, we are conscious of the influence exerted on younger generations in particular by the images produced by our Houses,” he said in a statement. “We believe that we have a responsibility to put forward the best possible practices in the luxury sector and we hope to create a movement that will encourage others to follow suit.”
