Fall runways were lit up with
metallic fabrics, embellishments, and accessories. Shimmering lamé, shiny silks and satins,
leathers, jewelry, studs, and rhinestones were a common theme. You might think the late seventies and early
eighties were back with a vengeance.
Disco-era glamour is having a moment, especially for evening, and can be
incorporated into your wardrobe and beauty looks for 2017 without harkening back
to Studio 54. Think of adding a bit of shimmering depth to your make-up for a
fall update that plays with shading to create just the right intensity and
glimmer.
Golden Eye: Keep the blending to a minimum and create a
well-defined eye shadow shape in a brassy gold shadow. Highlight the brow bones and temples to draw
the light to your eyes. Use a liquid eye
liner and create full black lashes for eye drama. Choose a rich red satin-finish lip color and
a rosy peach blush.
Purple Rain: Use deep metallic plum tones blended together
along the crease of the eyelid and highlight the inner corner of the eyes with
a bright silver shadow and finish with heavy black lashes. Use a rose-pink lip color with a satin finish
and a plum-toned blush.
Eye of the Tiger: Choose metallic browns and greys to create a
swooped cat eye shape, using a highlighter on the brow bone up to the
eyebrow. Outline the entire eye in
liquid liner and use a metallic gold shadow on the inner corners of the eyes to
create a cat-eye-like effect. Wear a metallic bronze lip color and a warm berry
blush.
Bronze Goddess: For a more ethereal metallic eye, choose a
lighter golden shade and blend it all over the lid up to the brow bone. Skip the eyeliner and use a mascara that
separates and defines rather than volumizes the lashes. Choose a deep berry metallic finish lip
color, and a peach-copper blush.
Shine on! XOXO
