It is well known that Mr. Mustache can also be tragically female. In fact, over 40 million women in the U.S. are bothered by facial hair. It's definitely a hairy situation, but is a woman who regularly shaves her face in danger of becoming the next bearded lady at the circus?
The thought that shaving your face will cause the hairs to grow back thicker and darker is a conspiracy theory that the beauty industry has promoted in order to make us spend thousands of dollars trying to get rid of what a simple 99 cent disposable razor can. I have been razoring the fine hairs off my face for years after a makeup artist told me about doing it for flawless looking skin in photographs. Makeup glides on afterward, plus foundation and powder won't become attached to those fine hairs and illuminated in your photos, especially visible in (Yikes) High Definition!
If you want to learn more about the science behind shaving your face for flawless photos and other secrets to taking prettier pictures, check out Chapter 3 in my new book dedicated to the science and history behind this subject along with nearly 200 color pages of other secrets models know! FACE THIS: Real Advice from Real Models.
Newport Beach plastic surgeon, Dr. Edward Domanskis encourages his female patients to shave their faces to slow the aging process. He says that by removing the top layer of dead skin cells, the exfoliation can result in a tightening and plumping up of the skin through constant cellular rejuvenation. .Dermatology and plastic surgery offices across the country offer a similar procedure of shaving the face that costs hundreds of dollars called derma-planing. Elizabeth Cummaro, R.N. aesthetician comments, “I see a remarkable improvement in my client’s skin after I perform derma-planing, which is almost exactly what shaving does.” See a You Tube clip of derma-planing being done ----->
Embarrassing and seldom discussed, the peach fuzz and faint mustache on a women’s upper lip is not a good look. Shaving is a simple, inexpensive and safe way to remove it. Some may resist saying, “Not by the hair of my chinny-chin chin” but if this model’s best beauty secret gets out, don’t be surprised if your man's razor mysteriously goes missing!

I shave my face atleast once a month. Every photoshoot since has been breath taking!!
ReplyDeletehow do you shave your facial hair?
Deleteim 13 years old andi use my nail clippers to get the each peach fuzz at the top. What is going to happen? should I just leave it alone and nothing will happen or whats going to happen?
DeleteHas anyone on this site ever heard of THREADING? It is the way that the Middle Eastern and Indian cultures remove unwanted facial hair. I have been doing it for years and It is the best way to remove without any after effects. It is very interesting to see. It is done with thread that is held tightly between the threaders hands and their teeth, using both hands the thread is brushed against your face in a quick sweeping motions gathering up the hair in between the strands of thread and pulling them out. It may hurt a little the first time but you will not even notice it later. It is very cost effective, around $25 to $30 for your entire face and some threaders are excellent at shaping brows. I have paid hefty sums of money in the past for expert brow shaping. I live in Europe part time but I have had it done in Chicago, St. Louis and Miami. Google threading in your city to find some one that offers it, you will not regret it.
Deletethat might work for some but I have had threading done a couple of times now and have had horrible reactions such as rashes and pimples as pulling hair out is just too much for my sensitive skin so shaving works much better for me
DeleteI too have had horrible reactions to threading on the face. It goes well for my brows but not my face.

Does anyone know how to remove shaved sideburns to make it look natural ? Honestly hate having to constantly shave every single day and everyone can notice I shave it which is why I never put my hair up having to always leave it down which kills me -.- please HELP! I will do anything for someone who can help me on this!
DeletePluck. I pluck my eyebrows and hair line for a clearly defined face. I also do this for the hairs just below the start of my ear. I look fresher having done this the first time and love how accurate and defined my face is. You pluck your eyebrows, its all the same.
DeleteIf it hurts use an ice pack to cool and numb the area or alternatively after a hot steamy bath or shower (which opens the pores). Eventually you will only have random ones coming back as they're so thin they give up.
We all know cutting encourages growth (hairdressers out there!!) Go for it and neaten the hair line too. That odd hair makes the difference, especially when applying make-up.
I shave my face two times a week and it is astounding the difference in texture and the youthful glow. I will continue to do it until I am too brain-dead to do it. It's easy, I use a regular 3 blade shaver with a flexible head and I take my time and I do my arms and hands. What a difference period. Not just for photo taking but for the appearance of your body.
ReplyDeleteI shave everyday mainly cause that's how fast my facial hair grows...
ReplyDeleteI do as well .... I have Mexican thick hair and what started as fuzz become corse and thick and now I need ti shave just to maintain :/
DeleteAll this "if you shave it will get thicker facial hair" is nonsense. Facial hair gets thicker because you are aging, and your female hormones are reducing and your testosterone levels are increasing.
DeleteA couple of hundred years ago women did not develop facial hair like they do now because most women did not live beyond thirty or so, and their estrogen levels were still high. Now, with modern medicine and better nutrition women live until their eighties, and their diminishing estrogen leads to thicker facial hair.
If you are getting hairy, be grateful that you are still alive, and shave.
I just happened to stumble across a video on YouTube that talked about how Japanese women have been shaving their faces for years. I thought it was crazy, but it definitely intrigued me. Everything I've read has been very positive though. Ive spent so much money on waxing throughout the years, I can't believe more women don't know about this! My skin has never felt smoother.
ReplyDeleteface shaving is believed to be the key to why asian women have such beautiful and youthful skin. It acts as an exfoliant and removes the layer of grime and dead skin that can make you look uneven and dull.
ReplyDeleteThe benefits are obvious when you consider that men's skin is more youthful and healthiest where they shave.
The vellus/ downy hair (which is the fine peach fuzz all over the face) will not look or feel darker and thicker. It will grow back exactly the same as it was.
It is best to wax terminal hair such as that found on the upper lip/chin etc (this is the darker, thicker hair) as it can tend to be a bit stubbly but as for the rest of your face, feel free to go wild and shave to your hearts content.
So many people are worried about 'turning into a werewolf'. One way to get around this is to do a patch test. Close to the ear on the side of the face is best. Shave a small area then leave it for a month and see how your hair grows back.
After seeing how radiant and healthy it makes your skin look, you'll never lool back x
I have been shaving my neck, chin and sideburns for 10 yrs. It is the worst thing ever and wish I never started. I was so tired of plucking long blond hairs or dark wild hairs. I was young, dumb, and desperate to look pretty. Now I have to shave every morning, get terrible razor burn that I cake make up on, and come home from work with stuble. I will never let a man get close to me as long as I am dealing with this painful secret. Please stop trying to make this sound glamorous as there are young women out there searching for a quick fix to make them feel better about their appearance. It is a terrible mistake that could only be reversed by spending thousands of dollars on laser hair removal!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds more serious than facial fuzz - There are certain medical conditions where excessive hair growth, hirsutism, can be a symptom of a true medical disorder. There are also prescription products that can inhibit hair growth that your doctor can prescribe if this is the case. Unwanted Facial Hair (UFH) is more common than you might think: 41 million women in the United States alone remove unwanted hair at least once in six months, with 20% of those removing UFH weekly, and 4% of them removing it every single day. So if you're bothered by facial hair, you're not alone.
DeleteShelley is right. If the hair is vellus/peach fuzz hair then it should not grow back any differently than it was to start with.
DeleteFace shaving is a legitimate option for women who cant bear the pain of waxing or dont want to throw chemicals on their skin every month.
Shelley is not right at all, my facial hair was fine on my upper lip and cheek, now i grow stubble,, and the hair is much thicker.
DeleteYou are encouraging girls to shave, this is not the best option at all. When shaving your skin may be smooth that morning but i can assure you that by the afternoon it will not be smooth.
I regret greatly the day I shaved , because the area kept growing.
I would not advice anyone , anyone to shave and have to put up with the constant worry as to whether anyone knows or not.
Shelley you should know better, unless your a transvestite?
I have a google account but I certainly wouldnt want to advertise the fact that I HAVE TO SHAVE!!!!
Incorrect woman! What happens is you do not increase the number of hair follicles.....the amount of hair out of one follicle increases over time. For instance look at your legs from when you first shaved as a pre- teen......look at them now ....notice multiple hairs out of one follicle, that came about over time. You are assuming everyone is blessed with the genes and almost hairless barely noticeable facial hair you have. But recommending it that.s not cool......and Asians are not known as a hairy population either......Your not taking into consideration ethnicity genes and biology here. It could be devastatingly ugly in the long run for much of the female population. You get a Mexican woman or even a Samoan believing this garbage with the shallow half witted facts here, you will ruin their face for life.....partially educated recommendations are most unwise Ms. Model. Woman DON.T SHAVE your face. Over time it will look like your legs and you won.t be able to control it. Use common sense...not a half witted and wishful thinking. Bunch of hoopla, if you believe it ...you may be one of the unlucky ones that has ill effects later on in life with 5 hairs growing out of one follicle . Still considering it...look at your armpits....and your legs when its time for you to shave them....your face in 25 years could be looking just like that.......I.m sure Ms. Model here failed to tell you she probably had some additional treatments on top of all this shaving hoopla.....cause there is no WAY.....once a month shaving side burns for twenty years is gonna be flawless now. UNLESS she is one of those who didn.t really have much hair to worry about....or like I said....had additional treatments and it left some stragglers. BAD ADVICE DON.T FOLLOW IT unless your practically hairless already or have the money to get some lazer done before you start shaving your face. I cannot believe you used "scientifically impossible" to grow more hair. No its not, what short bus school taught you biology and human anatomy??
DeleteI am in agreement. Don't ever shave your face... I've been shaving mine for the last 10 years and am STUCK having to shave EVERY MORNING. It's embarassing, to say the least. If you don't HAVE to, then DON'T.
DeleteI take offense to your short bus school comment--not cool at all--you lost any credability you may have had after that comment.
DeleteMultiple hairs in a follicle may suggest pili multigemini which is also called "compound hairs, are considered rare and uncommon, although there have been no studies to define the actual frequency in the general population.
DeleteA person with this disorder will notice several strands of hair that appear to be growing from a single hair follicle.
Under microscopic examination, multiple strands of hair do not grow out of one hair follicle. The roots of several hair follicles are clustered together below the scalp. These strands of hair group together to exit from the scalp through a single hair canal. Normal hair grows from a single hair follicle and exits from one hair canal to the surface of the scalp.
Another pili multigemini symptom is the abnormal depth of the hair follicle within the scalp tissue. The roots are buried further within the scalp than normal hair follicles, making plucking the hairs difficult. Hair that is affected by this condition may be more coarse and curly than other normally growing hairs.
There are few treatments for pili multigemini. Electrolysis to destroy the affected hair follicle may be used if the appearance of the hair growth is unsightly. Some patients undergo cryosurgery to remove the hair follicles exhibiting signs of the condition. A simple method some people use is to shave the specific hair follicles that are growing more than one hair strand at a time.
Improbable, unless your hair disposition is masculine, facial hair in women hardly can get like that of their legs :).
DeleteI recently visited a gynecologist, endocrinologist and a dermatologist who specializes in excess female hair and hair removal (laser and electrolysis). I was worried about possibly having PCOS because I began to experience some of the side affects associated with it (some excess hair). All of the doctors clearly explained that shaving would not harm or worsen hair growth. They explained that some women believe that their hair grows back thicker, darker, or there is an increase in hair growth when the truth is that they get used to not seeing hair on their body and become disgruntled when the hair starts growing back which leads them to believe that their hair structure has changed. All of doctors recommended that I shave off any hair that I find disturbing or annoying. They also reassured me that the hair would not worsen by shaving it (shaving removes hair at the surface therefore cannot change the structure of your hair because the hair bulb, root, and follicle lie beneath the epidermis) (and yes I did take human anatomy in college) but that the angle at which the blade cuts may cause hair to appear thicker or darker.
DeleteThe dermatologist however did warn me that waxing could possibly worsen hair growth and thickness. She said that waxing might make some women grow thicker hair because it somehow messes with the follicle (note that this maybe only applies to women with hormonal issues). The same can be said with lasers. She said that lasers may activate hair in some regions for certain women.
I have been trimming my facial hair with an electronic trimmer I purchased and have not experienced any negative side affects. I also occasionally shave my mustache with a razor and also 0 negatives.
I would strongly recommend that any of you girls experiencing excess hair growth visit a doctor. A hormone imbalance may be causing your fine hair to become terminal (dark and thick). Aging is also a strong factor. Puberty and menopause often cause women to see an increase of hair. A doctor may be able to help ease your situation by prescribing medication or creating a treatment plan.
A while back I also found this website of a beautiful strong young women sharing and documenting her experience with excess body hair. She shares her experiences with dating, doctors, medications, and hair removal techniques. She is truly amazing and makes herself available to anyone who has questions or needs some advice or even a pick me up.

I wish you all the best and hope that you don't let a little or in some cases a lot of hair keep you down. I am hopeful that one day there will be an answer for this problem that everybody can reach regardless of your income (after all hair removal is a million dollar industry so more and more companies are realizing that there is a high demand for hair removal products).
jade- that is the most well thought out and helpful comment here. thank you also for the link!
DeleteTo shave your face will be the biggest mistake of your life. As a teenager i hated the fine hairs on the top of my lip, and being stupid and neive i shaved a few, that few became more, likewise with my chin hair. Now I have to shave every day, and believe me its no fun. I have to shave, otherwise I have stubble, infact its noticable towards the afternoon. Id like to try facial creams, but cant stand the thought of having to let the stubble grow to enable the cream to work.
ReplyDeleteShaving is not the answer, infact it is the cause of my anquish. I have problems trying to date men because of it. The thought of a relationship horrifys me. Who wants to date a girl or woman who shaves.
This site is a Joke, and a very nasty one at that. Do not believe what you read is all I can say. Not on this site anyway
It is scientifically impossible to grow "more" hairs. You are born with a finite number of hair follicles and nothing you can do will increase that number. Hormones are the only thing that can change the color or thickness of a hair besides a more serious medical condition. I would advise you to see your family doctor - there are prescription creams that can be used to reduce the hair growth or possible this could be a sign of a more serious condition. Please go see a professional you should never feel the way you are, but I assure you that for most women this is a perfectly safe and reasonable way to get rid of facial hair and not a joke at all.
DeleteWow I am surprised she hasn't removed your post for being factual.
DeleteThe best thing to do from now on is to let it grow in long enough to start waxing it. Waxing it will cause it to start coming in finer, and less often. You don't need to keep going back to the razor, there are other options. You can even start using Nair for the face. This will also keep the hair away for longer. Throw out your razor if you feel it's not right for your face. Hormones also play a big factor in how the hair grows back.
Delete"I have to shave, otherwise I have stubble" that you have the stubble is not because your hair got really thicker, it's an effect of the blunt cut, it it realle got thicker it's your hormones, instead.
DeleteI just tried shaving my unsightly fuzz for the first time. Due to some trauma my hair was falling out at alarming rate (on my head); I started taking biotin, and I am not 100%, but it seems like that induced my facial peach fuzz to magnify by 500%. However, I do have a couple hormonal spots on my face (doc said because I'm 36 & on the pill) so it could be hormones or a combination of both. It appears blond to me, but I just can't be 100% how it appears in sunlight etc, and enough was enough. It is excessively everywhere on my face; and I did just get the dermatologist referral, but I wont be seen for about 3 months. I do have some fears as my eyebrows grow in unbelievably thick, the ones I pluck will sometimes cause my skin to bump almost like a pimple as they are growing to the surface; and although blond most of my life (naturally turned darker w/ pregnancy at 27) and having peachfuzz since I was a kid- my eyebrows and eyelashes have always been uncommonly long and thick (I love the lashes, not the brows)- so who know how this will turn out, but there is way too much to pluck and I think that would result very badly.
DeleteOn a positive skin note though, I have been experimenting with different natural oils to help my skin for about the last year. As opposite as it may sound, coconut oil, jojoba oil, even olive oil have really helped the overall appearance of my skin. I simply massage into skin to remove makeup and then use a very warm wash cloth 3-4x to remove it after a few minutes of saturation and massage. I prefer coconut oil, and I have exceptionally sensitive skin, so I thought I would use it as well to shave with; as I was afraid to put anything else on that might be aggravating. I also smoothed some all over repeatedly during the process, when done and then did the usual warm washcloth repeat to remove, and then used a light moisturizer as well...I can not believe how much more fuzz there was than I even realized until seeing it on the razor.
I'll try to remember to repost my results in a week or so, and as it goes; I will also report what the Dermatologist recommends..As for all the negative feedback on here, I understand wanting to warn people, but know your facts first. Every single person is so different from cells to hair follicles to chemical make-up; you only close other people's minds when you come across so close-minded, defensive, angry and vicious (obviously directed at the hateful comments here). My heart goes out to you that are in anguish and I hope you learn that you are so much more than hair or no hair on your face. Any man that is that shallow is not one worth having, but when you don't believe you are worth loving, no one else will either. I think a good dermatologist, Dr for a hormone check, and a therapist to get your self-esteem to loving a place will change your whole life- you are worth it!
I wish the best to you all, as we are all clearly in the same boat-albeit with different results....we just need to try different methods and remember that anything serious we should always refer to the doctors, even if it is hair!
I've been "dermaplaning" (just like shaving) my face once a week for years. I have naturally dark, coarse Indian hair, but it doesn't grow back any worse than it is naturally! The dermaplaning is amazing - I can't believe how much peach fuzz and dead skin cells come off with each weekly treatment. And best of all, it's so fast and cheap.
ReplyDeleteAgree, shaving my face has improved my skin tone greatly. I had waxed my moustache for years, only to damage the skin on my upper lip, I have melasma there now, since I started shaving once a week with a single blade disposable razor the melasma has faded. Additionally, my skin care routine has started working better as well, since the products can finally penetrate my skin rather than sit on top caught in tiny hairs. Shaving may not be for everyone but I encourage those interested to do more research and decide for yourselves, I wish I had started doing this sooner.
ReplyDeleteI too started with a light fuzz on my upper lip and just a few darker hairs on my chin which I used to pluck out. I had electrolysis which didn't really work and then I started plucking more profusely. I then started laser treatment and was told I had to shave. The laser treatment didn't work. It cost a great deal of money and inconvenience. I have now been shaving for 6 years. I have dark stubble on my chin by the end of the day and I hate my husband reaching out for my face in case he touches it. Having to shave on the morning of my wedding day made me cry. I think it is desperately irresponsible to encourage people to shave their faces. I am in no doubt that shaving encourages growth. It may be that you have a predetermined number of hair follicles but how you treat them is crucial. Also a razor has a width. It's impossible to be exact when shaving, so you encourage even the lightest fuzz to feel blunt and sharp after sustained shaving. You're a very lucky person if shaving your face makes you feel good about yourself. Please spare a big thought for those who have no option.
ReplyDeleteSince your face is already screwed and you're stuck in a cycle, might I suggest an epilator? Emjoi has a great one. It won't permanently fix your issue but longer periods in between dealing with it. Don't cry please. I bet you have a pretty face :)
DeleteYour face is not screwed and shaving doesn't encourage growth, what you are seeing is simply stubble!
DeleteHello darlings. I'm sad to hear all of these stories on here and truly empathise with many of you.
DeleteFirstly, I am also very hairy and always have been, my mother and one of my grandmothers were also hairy too. It didn't bother me until I had a boyfriend who said that I should do something about it (I was 19 at the time and said boyfriend was a total idiot). I started putting hair removal cream on my face and my skin used to be red raw, it has also left scarring on my cheeks. So after a few years of doing this I bought an epilator. I used the epilator every day and had to get up 2 hours before my usual getting up time as I had T combine epilation with manual tweezing. Plucking my face as much as I did for 7 years used to leave it terribly marked and bumpy and it also messed up my hand and fingers. One day I was running late and didn't have time to perform the routine so without really thinking I panicked and grabbed a razor. This started years of shaving at least once a day, razor burn/rashes and occasional bleeding. I had laser hair removal at a well known expensive salon during my shaving years and after 5 treatments I got a refund as it was obviously not working for me and after this I really broke down, I was distraught and just had so much hope and faith that the laser would work. Anyway the next stage was dermatology and hospital, I was diagnosed with pcos put on Spironolactone and metformin. I have been having electrolysis for a year and 7 months and have now stopped shaving completely. I know a lot of people who have said that electrolysis didn't work for them but when I ask about treatments they didn't really commit. I have been to see my electrolygist every week religiously for over a year as I would rather have gone without shopping than miss an appointment. It worked when all else failed and I'm so grateful for it. Young ladies out there who are unhappy with their facial fuzz trust me that 15 quid a week for a year is something that I regret not doing 20 years ago, if only we could turn back time :).
As for prescription creams- Please! Once the hairs grow they grow. If prescription creams worked there would be a lot of very happy women out there. I even worry about being incapacitated in some way and not having the faculties to shave. I hope a female member of my family would do the honours. This is a big problem. Don't make light of it.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry if you feel I am making light of this, this is not my intention. According to studies more than 41 million women in the US are bothered by facial hair, and ALL women have facial hair. In fact, we ALL have hair on EVERY part of our body except the soles of our hands and feet. This post is for women reading to know that shaving their faces may be an option for hair removal and WILL NOT produce more or darker hair to grow. If you want to learn more about why this is beneficial, why models do this for flawless looking skin in photographs or how Japanese women do this and why, check out Chapter 4 in my book Face This.
DeleteBUT if your problem of unwanted facial hair extends beyond the normal need for tweezing, waxing, or depilatory application or excess facial hair is making you suffer a negative impact in your life that makes you feel unfeminine and less confident, PLEASE see your doctor to make sure it is not caused by an underlying medical condition and that you have explored all your options for treatment.
The FDA has approved Vaniqa (eflornithine hydrochloride) Cream, 13.9% as the first topical prescription treatment for women with unwanted facial hair. According to FDA clinical trials and prescribing information: VANIQA® is the first and only prescription cream clinically proven to reduce the growth of facial hair in women. Most women see results within 4-8 weeks when used twice a day, every day. VANIQA® is the only prescription product that works at the source of the problem—in the hair follicle. VANIQA® works during the growth stage of the hair cycle, blocking an enzyme in the follicle necessary for hair to grow. VANIQA is not a hair removal system • reduces the rate of hair growth, so over time you shave/tweeze/wax less • is FDA approved & dermatologist recommended • is available by prescription only • works for women of all ethnicities/skin types • is not meant to be used alone but, rather, in conjunction with another hair removal method. You must have a prescription from your physician to purchase VANIQA®.
Full prescribing information for Vaniqa is available on the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company website.
Deleteafter reading all of these posts i want to thank you shelley for being so tactful. I agree with whoever said that the people using offensive language has lost all credibility. I have very dark hair and its very course, I have always had a problem with facial hair and I was very self conscious of it. somebody told me to shave and I did. I loved it. I break out though and I am considering switching my razor. I too have found that if i wait a few days in between it feels rough and blunt but that is like you said, the way its cut. I think that if you start to shave you have to know that your going to continue to shave.... its not permanent so of course you will get stubble! you will have to shave based on how much hair you have. To all the woman on here bashing shelley for talking about what works for her, show some class. Just because your angry at the hair on your face does not mean you need to put down other people for techniques that clearly work for them. Maybe talk to your doctor instead
DeleteWow! I just found this site by accident because I finally told a very dear friend of mine that her hair on her upper lip is very unattractive. It was hard to tell her that because she is so beautiful inside and out. Her doctor prescribed her something to take orally (not Latise) because her eye lashes were so thin and frail. For the past 2 months I've noticed her lip hair grow into a full peach fuzz, almost thick-like peach fuzz. She told me her husband said he doesn't want her to wax, shave, etc and told her she doesn't have any hair. Mind you, they have a wonderful marriage and both love escorted very much. She takes very good care of herself and pays close attention to detail on her clothing, makeup, etc. But her facial hair looks, well ridiculous. I didn't say anything when she just told me what her husband said because he would love her should, God forbid ,she grows a beard soon with those meds. Any advice on what I can say without undermining hubby? Or just leave it alone and get her a moustache comb for Christmas?
DeleteSigned, Friend With 'Stash
Ps...To those that don't have the balls to state their real name and hide behind anonymous. I think you need to REALLY LOOK closer in the mirror before you start bashing Shelly. This column she has is to not only promote her book, but to give advice on FACTS she was taught and studied throughout the years. How many different scenarios of scientific evidence does this poor woman have to give to make you understand....GO SEE A darn PROFESSIONAL DOCTOR and get off this board. Not ONCE have any of you come back with proven favorite facts from either a doctor or scientific evidence on your problems....Shelly has. Now go sit down and grow up. Clearly, you're not used to people trying to help, just used to people arguing and white trash name calling.
Yeah, here's your advice. Don't make your friend feel self-conscience just because you find a part of her body unattractive to your standards. Who cares? And if she's actually not doing something she wants to do, like waxing a part of her face, because her husband tells her "she's not allowed to", well her facial hair is the least of he problems because she should be able to do whatever she wants with her body.
DeleteA man weighing in here . . .
DeleteI am in love with a woman who--when the lighting is just so--shows a bit of a "shadow" from where she shaves her moustache. I imagine she hopes I never notice, but I do. She has a fairly hairy ethnicity. It doesn't bother me. It's out of her controi, yet she controls it (shaves). I always find her beautiful. If she did not shave, I'm not sure I would be as attracted to her as I am. We are a little older (in our 50s), but we're frisky. When I see the "shadow," it actually strikes me as sexy.
That is so sweet
DeleteI have been shaving since a year .though the skin feels good after shave but thr very next day hair starts to grow back. So the skin feels roug and I have to shave everyday. I wish dere was some way out.
ReplyDeletethe trade off (beautiful skin) is worth it imo.
DeleteI heard Dr. Oz say on his program that saving your face is perfectly harmless. I have a fair,
ReplyDeleteprocelein complexion with very dark hair. I also have the "sideburns"...I LOVE the way my face
looks since I started shaving. The sideburn area does have to be shaved daily, but takes only
seconds. If you have normal skin, and are just tired of dealing with the hair, I highly recommend
it!! Good luck!!
I have been using and electric razor on my peach fuzz around my jaw line and upper lip, I even occassionally use a single blade razor once every 2 weeks, my hair does not grow back fast. It's blond but very fuzzy. I also have the montly break outs normally and have noticed that has subsided ever since I started shaving my faceand I have been doing so for a year now. It's just like exfoliating your skin. I thought hey my husband does it, he has awesome skin and that's why he has great skin. I tried waxing and laser but it didn't take and the waxing created red bumps which blew up like a rash. I wouldn't stop shaving for the world. I also drink tons of water and have reduced sugar and cut out drinking milk to help control break outs...I never realized how many women shave their faces. And I did do my research before I started shaving to make sure it was for me.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you research this subject to get factual answers, not opinions?
DeleteI dont recommend African American shaving. im 28 ive been secretly shaving since i could reached the sink. i started out stealing my fathers razors. i have realy thick course jet black hair. I have shaved my complete face yes this makes the face smooth and make-up applications are the best. But just as a man you will have a shawdow. Most would say i have a beautiful face but im forced to wear light coverage make-up Every day beacuse of it. Ladys shaving is not the answer professionally or not.
ReplyDeleteI think she's talking about two different topics.
ReplyDeleteA) Shaving is NOT a good long-term answer for ANYone prone to facial hair (more than peach fuzz). Young girls should ask their mothers if they are genetically prone to facial hair, and consider electrolysis, which is the only permanent method of removing facial hair. It can take many treatments, but in the long run is well worth it.
B) If you're not prone to facial hair, this is great advice for exfoliating!
Forty plus years ago, I went through a series of electrolysis treatments, mainly over my upper lip as I was very self-conscious of the mustache, It took many treatments, but to this day it is gone forever. Unfortunately, I must tweeze my chin of the unsightly hair as electrolysis did not work in that area. I am considering shaving that area, but after reading all these comments I'm not sure about that. I should be thankful that I have no sideburns or heavy hair over the rest of my face. I believe this is a genetic problem since one of my father's aunts had a beard. The hair on my legs never grow as I have not shaved them in over 10 years. I shudder to think what I will look like when I can no longer tweeze. Currently I am 85 years old and very active, walking the treadmill 45 minutes, 4 days a week, and pedaling the bicycle 15 to 20 minutes on those days. My next step is to talk to my dermatologist at my next appointment.
DeleteI've read some quite mixed reviews on women shaving their faces. I have issues with sideburns, neck and the most common upper lip. I have been to my Doctor and she perscribed me the Vaniqa which I DIDN'T use as I didnt want the burning sensation so I just continued to go to my waxologist. However, I no longer go to the Waxologist as lack of funds. It was orginally my Waxologist that suggested the visit to the Doctor's whom did a blood test and said I have a SLIGHT hormonal inbalance but nothing that can be diagnosed as PCSO etc.
ReplyDeleteI think I will try the shaving method, if anyone has any positive advise I would really appreciate it.
I shave my sideburns with my husband's electric razor at least once a month. They grow back exactly the same way, fine and fuzzy. No problem. I shave my upper lip about every other day. I shave and or pluck my chin hairs every 2-3 days. I have been doing this for more than 15 years. It has never grown back darker or hairier. It was ridiculous of me to spend all that money on waxing at a salon. I get the same results at home with a cheap razor. I found that my hair grew back just as fast after a wax and it actually felt like I had skin burn and was more irritated. I will never stop shaving. I wish some women would, because they look hideous with their grey mustaches!
ReplyDeleteHow about facial hair from menopause?
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be 44 soon & have recently noticed hair on my lip & chin as well as along the sideburn area. Though my head hair is naturally dark & thick my face hair is light & soft. I've read all the posts &
ReplyDeletethe few that have had bad experiences shaving are freaking me out. I desperately want to believe there's a cheap safe solution. Waxing my lip causes swelling & days of redness. Everything I've read supports the theory the hair texture & color shouldn't change. Ugh! I'm so undecided.
so here's the deal ... there is absolutely no scientific evidence that supports hair changing color and texture from shaving. Hair is dead. You cannot stimulate a hair follicle by cutting some it's hair. Your fears are more psychological and I get why you feel that way, we have been conditioned to. Only you can decide, but I think you've stumbled upon your answers.
ReplyDeletemaybe there is no scientific evidence of this that you can find, but I for one will tell you that that is EXACTLY what happened to me. I went for Laser Hair removal on hair on my chin and neck. I had a few dark hairs, maybe 4, and then the normal peach fuzz with some longer/coarser ones. I was instructed to start shaving before each appointment. Well, after a number of painful visits, the laser removal did not work at all. Now I am left shaving every other day because my skin cannot handle it every day, I get razor burn, and the second day you can definitely see MANY MANY MANY dark COARSE hairs. This is a DIRECT result from shaving every other day for two years now. So, if that's not evidence enough, along with the other number of people who have replied and had the same problem, I'm not sure what is. Some people may not be affected at all by shaving, but I would be EXTREMELY cautious, because you never know how you will react. I HAVE to shave now, and am very self-conscious about it and the dark hairs that cover my neck and make me look manly. This has only happened because I shaved. Nothing else, medically or otherwise, has changed.
Deletetry shaving with the grain of your hair, not against it, that will irritate your skin more.
Deletei agree that shaving was a terrible mistake and i do not suggest anybody start. i now no longer have the option of weather or not i shave, its a must. i highly regret the day i started and i have tried several ways to help it and none have worked. i had peach fuzz and now i have course dark hair. i have no medical condition either, so enough with that.
DeleteIf a dark course hair shows up on a woman's face, it's not because of shaving, it's because there are testosterone receptor sites on the hair follicle.
DeleteI'm so glad I'm not the only one, I'm 25 now and I've been shaving my upper lip since I was about 14. I've never told anyone because I've been to embarrassed! lol but it's good to see I'm not crazy for doing so.. I've also never noticed it growing back any differently and like I said I've been doing it for years.
ReplyDeleteRather than shaving why not try just lightly going over your whole face with the foil part of a lady shave or similar. Has anyone ever tried this?
ReplyDeleteWhat about cutting mustache hairs as low,as possible? Will they just grow back to original length??
ReplyDeleteI'm only 18 so this could sway your opinion away from this post, but I I've been using those little scissors in a manicure set a year after I noticed hairs growing above my lip. I was maybe 11. I am in full support of trimming. I have dark brown hair with a fair complexion. My hair does not get thicker or darker. I trim once a week. You will still be able to feel a little fuzz if you're really trying to find it, but you won't see it. If you get lazy and let it grow, it just grows back to the way it was before you started trimming. If a man really cares about you it shouldn't matter anyway. :)
DeleteI am at the menopause phase of my life now and started shaving the light fuzz that has become more fuzzier over the last couple of years. So I have been shaving now for 6 months and have not notice more hair growth or darker hair, it is basically the same. I have light colored hair, not blonde though and the fuzz on my face is very light. So I think the type of hair that you have on your face may make a difference as to how well shaving may or may not work for you. The darker hairs above my lip had not increased or gotten thick either, it come out the same each time. But we all react differently to various things we do and this is just my experience.
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately had a bad experience with shaving my face-I started when I was about 12yrs old, every other day, upper lip, sideburns, cheeks and chin. Results? Yup, skin was definitely glowing BUT hair grew back coarser and worst part---I'm left with a five o'clock shadow that I am desperately trying to cover!!!!!I'm in my 30's now and began epilating my face after about 16yrs of shaving and boy do I wish I had never shaved!! The day I would shave it was great but the time in between was stubbly and I didn't want anyone touching my face.. I'm Indian and the hair on my body is very coarse to begin with but I had peach fuzz on my face. I definitely think I made matters worse but no point in crying over spilled milk. Just wish I could find makeup that actually stays on!!!! So I do believe that shaving is a great exfoliator BUT I personally wish I had never put a razor to my face. I have to tweeze coarse chin hairs everyday and upper lip hairs. Epilating is great but leaves my skin red and a rash appears for at least 2days after. Weigh your options based on how coarse your hair is.
ReplyDeleteI have been shaving my sideburns, chin, neck & upper lip for over a year now. It was such a relief to come across this blog as now I know Im not the only one. For many years I have been using hair removal creams, waxing & plucking, my facial hair grows back slightly prickly on my sideburns & upper lip but it also did with other hair removal methods as well. I think once you get over the psychological stigma that goes with OMG!!!"A woman shaving!" you realise that its 10 times cheaper, easier & convenient than other methods & also leaves your skin looking fabulous..I dont get what the big deal is about shaving every day, we wash everyday, most of us put on makeup everyday, & guys do actually shave everyday..Some ladies may have to do it everyday, some every couple of days, or maybe once a month..I do feel for past bloggers that talk about getting a 5 oclock shadow, but it makes me wonder how fast was your hair growing back from other hair removal methods???Anyway Im very comforted by knowing that there are lots of women throughout the world that are benefiting from shaving..It works for me & Im happy to incorporate it in my weekly beauty regime..p.s My boyfriend knows & quite frankly doesnt care one little bit as he loves me...Not the hair on my face ;)
ReplyDeleteI 100% agree with your comment about people needing to think about how fast their hair growth was before. I have stubble when I wake up no matter what method I am using shaving has for sure been my best bet so far.
DeleteFor me, waxing left behind a rash of whiteheads which at the time, seemed unbearable and the hair would reappear within 2-3 days. Waxing wasn't a cost friendly option for me either being a student BUT had I known that shaving would give me a five o'clock shadow, I would have gladly opted for the temporary rash of whiteheads!!!! Or I would have just tweezed the hairs out. Much better than having a permanent disfigurement like a five o'clock shadow!! Sad thing is shaving my face was a cheap answer but didn't really solve my problem because it was a very temporary solution. If I shaved my face in the morning, by 6 or 7pm u could see stubble already. Guess damage was done.....
ReplyDeleteI too have made the terrible, terrible mistake of shaving my face. I only ever had blond peach fuzz, but I was self conscious to begin with. I believe I have trichotillomania as I am obsessed with removing ALL body hair via shaving or epilator. It took only 1-2 comments for me to start shaving my face, after I realized I still had stray blond hairs that were noticeable after waxing (breakage?). I have been a prisoner ever since, every day for almost 15 years. The constant worry of someone noticing in the sunlight, looking at me too long and heaven forbid someone getting close to my face. I dread getting my hair cut, chiropractor visits or dentist visits. Even though my hair colour/thickness has not changed, like someone above said, it will feel like sandpaper, even with fine hair.
ReplyDeleteIt is very difficult to relax around a guy and be natural when you become intimate, and I feel too afraid for a guy/anyone to find out and therefore I am always single. This addiction is ruining my life.
There are always guys attracted to me, but I can never allow anyone to find out this terrible, shameful secret. I am relieved I am not the only one who has this problem. So embarrassing...
Don't treat yourself that bad, for chrissake, you are beautiful, you're denying yourself the occasion of getting in touch with boys!
DeleteYou are correct, it's the stubble that feels rough because of the blunt cut, you have to let them get replaced by completely new hair.
Gee you really are terribly hard on yourself... I'll bet you're incredibly attractive, and I would also be willing to bet that the sandpaper feeling you're talking about isn't even noticeable to other people.
DeleteI have been shaving my face for the last 2oyears and get so depressed about it. I feel like a freak - I also have icthyosis (a dry skin condition) which means I get razor burn despite using sensitive skin products and my neck is so itchy and red. Over the years I've tried wet and dry shaves and my doctor referred me for electrolysis - after 2 years of weekly sessions there was no reduction and I was so depressed I gave up. Blood tests haven't thrown up any real reason for the hairyness and I'm resigned to shaving for the rest of my life along with an itchy, painful neck.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried using CeraVe Hydrating Cream (not the lotion)? I'm using it and it's a miracle-worker. Alternatively, if you have itchy skin, I believe Benadryl has come out with a lotion. It's usually in the pharmacy section and not the lotion section though. Hope this helps!
DeleteHas your doctor prescribed VANIQA®? It is the first and only prescription cream clinically proven to reduce the growth of facial hair in women. Most women see results within 4-8 weeks when used twice a day, every day.
DeleteOlay has launched a new product to remove facial hair that some of you who are opposed to the thought of shaving might try called Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo - whatever way you wish to remove, these products dissolve the hair with a chemical. The benefit to shaving is that you also get an exfoliation of old dull skin cells that will brighten your face and stimulate cell skin growth.
DeleteI did this thing tonight just to see if it would work. I saw that you could put elmers glue on your face let it dry and pull it off. So when it dried and i pulled it off of my chin it made it extra smooth (pulled my peach fuzz out) I am soooo nervous that it will cause my hair to come in dark on my chin? needless to say that idea did not work. Will my chin hair now come in darker since it was basically waxed off?
ReplyDeleteWow..I been searchn internet 4 years now on advice on the fight for shaving chin and finally came across this. Whoever was the anonymous debating with the shelly woman...ur awesome. Completly agree. I in no way at ALL thought of the problem of shaving could be taken as a routine 2 look appealing in a pic..the embarrasment of actually being around in person and having the worry of ur stubble show isn't as flawless as being photographed! I've had 2 shave my sideburns and chin and under chin(neck area) for maybe 10years now..it is the worst mistake I've ever made. You have 2 shave daily or look like a freaky sasquatch. I luckily have a bf of 13years who I'm sure has noticed but never has said anything. But my prob is coworkers or just plain strangers.its embarrasing as hell. it takes over ur life..can't just wake up n go,easily cut urself no matter how slow and good razor...just a pain and worse thing 2 do. I'm not a law breaker in any means but dread if I ever get arrested id be a bearded b*tch in jail..yeah I'm sure they'd be supportive...bottom line DO NOTTTT SHAVE if u can avoid it and if u can't ..there r others out there and only advice is a shaving gel and a mans razor like mach 10 or sumthn. Shave in one direction and if you have nowhere 2 go don't shave and give ur area time 2 grow a little.
ReplyDeleteThe stubble that feels rougher than the original hair because of the blunt cut, you have to let them get replaced by completely new hair. But it has not really grown back darker, if it did, it's probably true that you started shaving *because* your hair was already getting darker so that made you shave, then the process simply went on, *when* you were shaving, but *not because* of it, sum the stubble misconception, to the fact it might have got actually darker but for an indipendent, hormonal process, and you'll get the answer i think.
DeleteTake your armpit hair, it would be the same if you don't shave it, in fact it gets (at least it can, depending on genetics) dark similar to male armpit hair, just as well as unshaved pubic female hair, is of similar thickness as the male one, that despite shaving.
You are right Anto. The hair changes with the changes of age and hormones, not because you started shaving. I started shaving because of the changes with my hormones - first because of birth control, then having children, then finally due to Menopause. I use an electric shaver and keep one in my car for if I need to do it again later in the day. It is what it is. My husband knows, and got me a really nice new shaver for a gift.
DeleteI started shaving my upper lip and chin years ago, now I have to shave everyday because it is course and I dont want anyone to touch my face and feel it, I worry about one day if I ever have to be put in the hospital or nursing home and someone feel the stubble on my face, it was the worst mistake I have ever made and to try to exfoliate, you have to let it grow longer and then its really stubbley, dont do it, please, and I thought I was the only woman in the world that had this problem, we need to start a group, so we dont have to stay so private about it :(
DeleteBeen shaving mustache 45 yrs. Age 60
ReplyDeleteGood news is the hair gets much finer with age. Gone from daily to 2-3 days. Hang in there ; no adverse effects.
My name is Linda and I am 56 years old. I have always been a rather hairy female and that is simply a fact of life. As I have aged I have peach fuzz and stiff white and some black chin hairs. I shave the stiff hairs daily and when the fuzz gets to long it goes to. Shaving cream is marvelous. Men have been getting close long lasting shaves with warm shaving cream for MANY years. Hot towels for the face feel good and make shaving easier. Use vitamin a and e mixed with aloe juice on your face. If I am short on cash I cut open the vitamin supplements and use that. A little goes a long way. Exfoliate often. Drink LOTS of water. Do a cleanse once in a while. Make sure you get proper nutrition and sufficient exercise. You will feel better and it will show in your face. If you are going around feeling miserable and embarrassed, that shows in your face as well and people sense that something is off about you.If you are prone to afternoon stubble stay away from foundation and just use a bronzer. Take a small mirror and razor into the ladies room stall, very lightly shave and reapply bronzer. If there is a tiny bit of stubble left no one but you is going to notice it and if they do so what? If they have a problem with it they need to GROW UP.
ReplyDeleteLadies please stop with this embarrassment stuff and simply do the best you can with what you have been GIFTED. There are many people in this world that would be very happy to have the bodily advantages you have. Please stop thinking that a little facial hair defines you as an unworthy or unlovable person. A good attitude, genuine empathy for others and being at peace with your own body are the best beauty treatments that you can invest in. If you are using a little facial hair problem as an excuse to not become intimate with a man, you have more serious issues that you need to work on. Any man that is worth having is not going to be put off over you having to shave or a small amount of stubble in the afternoon. A man that is worth having will however be put off by a lack of self confidence, bitterness, fear and all of the other negative emotions I have read in your posts.I hope that something I have said will be of use to you and I wish you all much luck in your lives and your attitudes about yourselves.
Thank you Linda for speaking the absolute truth. I'm a long-time PCOS sufferer. Between the extreme menstruals and the horrible hirsuitism, I too have allowed my condition to define me and prevent me being the confident and proud woman I'd otherwise be. Honestly,I think the hair humbles me because I'd probably be OVER-confident if I didn't have a four-o-clock shadow and the body of a defensive linebacker. My saving grace is the fact that I have man-magnets (42DD) and the awesomely captivating personality of a woman who's blessed and cursed with her body. It's and external and internal struggle trying to keep everything balanced. Suck that in, push that out, sit like this, walk like that, act like a lady, think like a man, shave like a BigFoot in the Sahara Desert. It's a lot, indeed, but in the grand scheme of things; it's nothing. It's just another part of your beauty regiment; no matter how costly, time consumming, painful, weird, technologically advanced or simply organic...the fact of the matter is that nearly every woman on this PLANET has some kind of beauty ritual. Different cultures and different classes have different priorities because of different ideas of beauty. But the common denominator is that we're all women and we all want to be our most beautiful selves. By any means necessary.
DeleteOne other thing. Re-chargeable cordless razors are great for afternoon touchups.
ReplyDeleteI have been plucking & shaving for about 18 years and it was the worst mistake. I'm white and the hair growing back is thick black and coarse. I have been plucking my hairs everyday as this is the only way to really remove the hairs and it damages the follicle so it takes longer to grow back. I got tired of plucking everyday and had my first laser hair removal treatment on friday the 15th of march. Let me tell you that it kills the dark hairs (laser hair removal only works if the hair is dark) but you smell it being burnt and then the hairs fall out afterwards. I purchased 6 treatments at south Coast med Spa and the cost was about $900. I already noticed after 1 treatment how many hairs were destroyed and I have to go every 4 weeks for 5 more treatments and after that they recommend a maintenance treatment 1-2 times a year. I had to start shaving instead of plucking and I didn't realize how bad my hair growth was until I had to stop plucking and start shaving instead. This is how I found this website because I wanted the best method for a woman to shave. I don't recommend ANYONE shaving their face if you don't want it to grow back thicker and noticeable. I have a new boyfriend that I have to try and hide my facial hair from which is embarrassing! I literally stopped plucking for 3 weeks and so much hair showed up! Its out of control and I wish I could speed up the process but I have to go every 4 weeks because the hair has to be in a certain stage to work but it is working so ladies please check into the laser hair treatments because you will get results but you have to be patient and also be an expert in shaving everyday until the treatments are finished. They were awesome too working with me on a payment plan because I don't have $900 just sitting around for laser hair removal!
ReplyDeleteIt is true that shaving will not make the hair grow back any thicker, does anyone get brazillians here? Anyone who doesn't? Well, if you don't you would have noticed the hair getting thicker since your "preteen" days, even after your early 20s. You didn't shave/wax then, the hair just grew thicker due to hormones. Now, I will guarantee you that if you hadn't started shaving all those years ago, the hair on your face would still be as thick and abundant as it is now.
ReplyDeleteLadies, PLEASE be VERY careful before you start this! I started shaving my sideburns along with my chin several years ago because the hair was very dark and very thick! As a teenager, I was constantly being teased, so as an adult, I decided to just take control and fix the issue! Boy was that a BIG mistake!!! I have a pretty hairy face, and thought that because all of the other hair on my face was blonde, (and thank GOD for that) I would just shave the sideburns and the chin hair that were black and thick. Now...I am left with a HORRRRIBLE makeup line on both sides of my face! Makeup will NOT lay the same or look the same on shaved skin, compared to skin that has not been shaved. So what happens?? If I wear my hair up or even tuck it behind my ears, I am left with a makeup line and it is a very obvious look basically screaming to all that "Hey, I shave!!" I really wish I would have just saved up and done the laser treatment first! I am definitely looking into it! Also, I have just ordered this, so I am not sure how it will work, but I have been informed by a friend that ULTA, a makeup store with a great online site too, sells a foundation made by Tart that if you order the foundation, along with the $30 Bamboo foundation application brush, it is an airbrush like finish that can help. Again, I haven't done this yet, I have just ordered it but I am very hopeful. If that doesn't work, I am considering trying the $30 Luminair airbrush makeup kit.
ReplyDeleteOk Look If you shave your hair may grow back darker, because after so long your facial hair has been naturally bleached by the sun. So when the fresh hair grows back it can be darker, but Not thicker. What you can do is dye the hair on your face if your upset that it is darker. As far as the girl with a makeup line. I think maybe your makeup just doesn't fully match your skin tone which will subsequently leave a line. The biggest mistake most women make is matching their makeup to their face, when you should match your makeup to your neck. By matching your makeup to your neck you will not have any harsh lines. I have been shaving/plucking. I have like 2 dark chin hairs I have to pluck but they were there before shaving my face.
ReplyDeleteBy the way for all the ladies who are to embarrassed or ashamed to be with someone because you shave your face, shouldn't be. I simply asked my husband what he thought of it and he said, "Well I shave who cares if you do." Btw I haven't shaved my face in like a month, if I could post pictures I would! My hairs are still very fine and blonde. I asked my husband what he thought of my facial hair. He felt my face and said I didn't have any!!!! I think we notice this more about ourselves than other people. If I man cares about you shaving your face then he is not worth it. Trust me most men are not going to even notice. I say Get Your Shave on!
Some one told me to start shaving my facial hair when I was 14, I wanted to look "normal" so of course I did. Now I am 21, and I HAVE to shave every morning, by the middle of the day its already growing back :( I wish I never started, now I can't stop.
ReplyDeleteYou can stop anyday, you would simply get back the hair you would have *now* not at 14, for chrissake, it's obvious that if you started getting facial hair at 13, shaved at 14 because it was getting darker and terminal, it simply got more terminal as time passed after you shaved, but not because you shaved.
DeleteI also shaved my face when I was younger and wondered even if the hair doesn't grow back thicker or coarser, will it grow longer? Has anyone tried the "No No Hair Removal System?"
ReplyDeleteSince a lot of the contributors on this thread agree that shaving their face was the worst thing they ever did, and if the hair doesn't grow back thicker, coarser or darker, then why not just let it grow back?
ReplyDeleteFor they think it feels bristlier because it actually got thicker, while it is due to the blunt end of shaved hair, whiche gets back to normal after a while. And if it actually became thicker, they don't think it is because they simply kept growing up after they shaved, forgetting they did it because their hormones kicked in, they simpled kept kicking in after they started shaving, but it was hormones fault, not razor fault :).
DeleteI have shaved my face once a week for two years now and i have discovered that it had decreased acne drastically and my skin looks so much healthier and the hair actually grows in thinner when i let it. I am happy that i started shaving.
ReplyDeleteI have shaved my upper lip just a few minutes ago. Now everyone is telling me i should not have done it and i will have to regret and that i will get thicker and darker hair. I am crying and i dont know what to do.
ReplyDeleteI shaved my face once or twice. My face looked fresh and clean immediately after. But then then hair grew back. It is longer now but has the same texture and doesn't look thicker. I don't shave but do have my upper lip waxed every now and then. I don't like talking to guys under bright lights or in the sunshine, I try not to get too close, cos I know the hair might be a big turn off
ReplyDeletei have it..that doesnt stop me from talking to guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! come onn...i am shaving like she is.. but using a ladies shaver and shave downwards... fantastic..im so close to guys even in bright light :D
DeleteCould it be that facial hair, even on women, can get darker and thicker over time, whether it is shaved or not? Of course it can! We have all seen women with facial hair that has never been shaved. If you have a lot of facial hair after shaving for years, consider this... You were probably destined to have it anyway, and would have had to shave or wax regardless. Shaving has a bad wrap. It is hormones that cause facial hair to thicken, not shaving.
ReplyDeleteI do not know how I ended up on this website and I hope to never return.
ReplyDeleteFor those seeking to shave, maybe you should test out a small patch on your lower chin before taking a razor to your whole face and doing something you'll regret forever. Everyone's skin and hair is different and you should never take blanket advice (like the advice provided in this article) without a grain of salt.
I feel like the blogger wrote this with the best of intentions, but unfortunately, she is creating needless insecurities in women who never gave a second thought to a little fuzz on their face. If shaving makes you feel better about yourself, then great! By all means, do it and be happy! Do not, however, perpetuate your insecurity in others. You are *beautiful* and *fierce* just the way you are, whether your face is naturally hair free or fuzzy!
-Lola from NYC
Cosmetologist here. An analogy I use is to think a strand of your hair as an upside-down carrot. You see the tip is pointy and thin and it gets wider as you move downwards. When you shave, it's like you are cutting the carrot horizontally. Suddenly, the nice pointy tip is gone and you have this wider base that is exposed for the world to see. But nothing has changed except you replaced that fine, thin tip with a thicker, coarser one. It's still the same hair. If you then decide to pluck/wax the hair out from the root, the new hair will grow back with a pointy, fine tip. Some people get stubbles after shaving because the thicker base has a hard time squeezing through the follicle to come out onto the surface.
ReplyDeleteSeriously if shaving made hair grown back thicker or more of it then men who have patchy facial hair would be growing full beards by middle age. Pretty sure that doesn't happen. Also, for those concerned about their face feeling rough when hair grows back just think again about guys shaving... Yeah they feel rough when it is growing back but after a couple days its soft again.
ReplyDeleteHi I don't know what to do I shave my upper lip twice and I'm scared that something bad is gunna happen I started to grow hair in my chin and little around my cheek can anyone help me plus I'm twelve x obv a girl
ReplyDeleteIt's not only boys that experience mustache and beard growth -- some girls do too. It's not unusual. Just shave it off -- shaving doesn't increase the growth.
DeleteWill the shaved hair grow longer?
ReplyDeleteI am very curious about dermaplaning which is similar to shaving and wondered if anyone has had this done?
ReplyDeleteI'm not really concerned about how it grows back as it can be shaved, dermaplaned, waxed away whatever you choose, its the damage it does to my skin itself that upsets me most. And the fact that after about 5 years now of having to shave my chin and neck that by the end of the day there is stubble there. I think my bf of 4 years has noticed but not said anything - he may one day but obviously doesn't appreciate how bad this can make a woman feel.
ReplyDeleteThere's no reason to feel bad about it. Millions of women shave their face every day
DeleteHere is my experience with shaving. I started shaving my girl mustache with a daisy razor when I was in my 20's. I had a few hairs on my chin and neck which I tweezed regularly. But with tweezing I got bumps on my chin from ingrown hairs so I decided to shave with an electric razor. I usually shave every day or second day, but sometimes I give it a rest. I have about 30-40 course hairs on my chin. I was surprised to find that many after I stopped tweezing. I don't believe the number of hairs or thickness has increased since I started shaving, which must be 6 years ago or more. I have a lot of blonde hair on the sides of my face which I trim back about once a month. Shaving has been the best solution for me. I have really good skin and I never worry about regrowth showing. When I was on vacation this winter, I let it grow for about 2 weeks. I had stubble for awhile but by the end the hair was soft. Thing is there was just too much of it, it was too long, so I trimmed it back and then went back to shaving. I am not embarrassed, most of the time anyway. Some girl friends know I shave and a couple of them confided that they do to. It is not a secret I keep from my husband either He knows I shave, and because we both are often rushing in the morning, he has often seen me going at it with my electric razor. It doesn't bother him , and it doesn't bother me.
ReplyDeleteMost husbands aren't in the least upset by having their wife shave
DeleteA long time ago my cosmetology instructor made a good point about the myth of hair growing in thicker if you shave it....If it were true then balding men and thinning men all over would be shaving to increase thickness and grow in more hair. Has anyone ever seen that work?
ReplyDeleteI always shave and as soon as it grows back I shave again so it carnt get thick
ReplyDeleteI love shaving! I shave about once a week and I am HAIRY- I know that I will probably have to increase this as I get older as I have to shave my legs everyday. I was wondering if there is a razor that will help me not break out as often? should i use shaving cream? I order blades from japan and dont use anything because I was told not to but Im wondering if switching my razor and the use of shaving cream will stop my breakouts. thanks! and to all the people that are ashamed of shaving??? really? let that go :) my husband knows I shave and could care less. most guys would rather a girl shave than have a mustache and even then..... do what makes you happy and dont be ashamed of it. Do it with confidence <3
ReplyDeletea cousin from japan told me about face shaving so i stumbled upon this
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see the recommendation made by a contributor named, Jan Wurtz for hairfreesales? It seems that her comment has been removed and I am wondering if I just got scammed because I decided to order the product and it still has not arrived after a week.
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting take on the concept.I never thought of it that way. I came across this site recently which I think it will be a great use of new ideas and informations. Thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteShavers for Women
Sorry but I have never laughed so much in a long time ! Just watch some of the medical reality shows and you will be thankful you even have a face. Beauty is from WITHIN !
ReplyDeleteI have been shaving my top lip with a leg razor for yrs..
ReplyDeleteafter watching a youtube video i have brought to facial razors to get rid of the fuzz on my cheeks that i am constantly using hair removal on and omg they are amazing my skin is soft my make just glides on i will never use hair removal again..
im a guy and i shave my face - i believe this method does in fact exfoliate and also exercises the cells ability to regenerate teaching them to regenerate faster.
ReplyDeleteHow do you feel about women who have mustaches and beards?
Deletewell,m an 19 yr old girl with PCOS n hav thick facial hair growth.i cnt wax so much as as it will b very painful.at the same time i really hate the sideburns.is it a good option to go for shaving?i normally go for threading the upper lips and it doesnt hurt much once u get used to it.so m jst concerned about the sideburns
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! I love the comments and debate that has happened here! This has become a great sounding board for women to find real advice from others, and make a decision about something that is in my opinion much understood.
ReplyDeleteI want to assure everyone that my bend is always in facts and science and I hope that those who follow me understand that I don't buy into "claims" or "fancy potions" . (Yes I was the nerdy smart girl in school)
I personally do this about once a month or before a big photo shoot so that my skin looks flawless, especially with HD lenses. And not to start anything, but college girls that I meet tell me that although they hadn't thought of their faces, that most of them shave their arm hair for the same reasons.
Thanks for reading, sharing and being interested in my blog!!! I promise to give you honest and straight advice always.
XO
Shelley
None of this really helps me out so I'm hoping someone comments back to this with some advice.
ReplyDeleteI have been shaving my chin since I was 14 and I am now 21. I am white and have Irish in me and German so you can imagine what type of hair I had and how much.
I just recently told my boyfriend about all of this and we have only been dating for going on four years and he got upset and hurt because I was going to break up with him and kill myself because I couldn't bare to try to go out in public or try to find a job and have people stare at me. I'm extremely happy to say that he loves me unconditionally and I know I'll marry him one day and be happy. Of course I am still upset and embarrassed about my chin and my upper lip but now I also have more problems that I'm trying to confront him about I just don't know how. I have also shaved my: stomach, arms, hands, my breasts, and my cheeks and sideburns. I can not make love in the light because I'm afraid he may realize how much of a man I really look like. He wants me to take showers with him but I can't even let him be in the bathroom as long as I am naked. I feel like Bigfoot and just want to end my misery but I'm afraid of dying and its not what I would really do but I can't take the hair anymore. What can I do???
Wow!! and here I thought I was the only one who had to shave., I, too, made the big mistake shaving one day cause of the ingrown hairs and it progressively got worse and now, I am 53 and i have to shave every morning and use makeup to try to cover up the redness, etc but it really dont work,, at the end of the day, i can see bumps on my chin and upper lip and most of the makeup is gone by then or has dried up in the creases and lines. I am currently married ( 3 years now) and i did tell my husband, while dating, my problem and he was ok with it, even joked with me, saying not to use his razor lol.. i still am very insecure and wont let him come into the bathroom when i am shaving and i refuse to let anyone see me til i have "fixed" my face. the makeup i use helps some, for awhile but i use alot and it can be seen. At this point, i dont care if folks seen the makeup so long as it helps cover the flaws, My best bet is to have lazer surgery but i know its costly., I really dont want to be in my 70s and still shaving and what if i wind up in the hospital for some reason and have to stay there. i really dont want anyone seeing me this way. I had the flu couple years back and was laid up for 4 days and couldnt shave and i refused to let my hubby see my face. i felt and still feel ugly and very insecure, as if many can tell. I now know that i am not alone and many of you suffer this same issue. i contacted NoNo to see if their product can help me. They sell a lazer product too that i seen on tv for $500.. its cheaper than lazer but i think i would rather leave my problem in the hands of a professional.. i will try the olay facial treatment duo product mentioned in one of these messages.. if anyone has used this, let me know how it works,
DeleteFirst off put off any suicidal thought, second you have a boyfriend who loves you even with hair? Unless you have this hair because of pcos it's a normal hair condition, within a normal range, just a bit more on the hairy extreme. Moreso, you shave it off, which mean you take care of it, so don't be self conscious :).
DeleteMind that some latina models are as hairy as you in the same body areas, but they shave just like you in order to be smooth, yet they are regarded as sexy and exotical. Not an offence, said by me, because I know it's just a somatic trait, maybe more frequent in some zones of the world, and more rare in the German, Irish and northern etnies, but still absolutely nothing to be ashamed of ;).
Stay well and take care.
Omg people going through all these opinions is freaking Confusing !!!!
ReplyDeletebut i got the idea of the flaws of shaving
it is more comfortable , cheaper and easier but once you start doing it you'll shave daily like a guy cause your hair will grow back by the end of the day unless you're not really hairy
so if you can bare to do it for the rest of your life and bare how awful your skin would look if you stop then go ahead
plucking is really boring and painful and annoying if you're hairy
Waxing is kind of easier you take the pain all at once but you'll have to do it regularly
bleaching is a life saver quick and painless but temporary so u'll have to take off the hair after some time
the laser method is literally the best but inconvenient for most women because it's expensive
so just choose the best of the worst methods
i've tried almost all of them except the laser
i tried threading once and i couldnt take the pain i was so young i blacked out for a couple of seconds and didnt dare to try it again
bleaching is my Favorite , waxing is great as well but leaves out some hair that needs to be plucked which gives me the same feeling of threading and sometimes i'm really short on time so i might shave my way out of it
why i dont do it alot is that my moustache grows out next day with a green colour that looks so annoying and manly so i dont do it alot and i'll have to bleach the hair until it grows back tall and wax it
My friend is a lesbian and she came to live with me. One day I took her to my cristmas party and we slow dancing. I notice that she had a lot of facial hairs, but I did not say anything. I did not want to ruin the night. When we got home that night, I showed her "A Models's Secret:Womens Facial Shaving" She liked what she read and the videos. She was afraid that she would cut herdelf. I like this lady, even though she is a lesbian. I told her that I would love to shave her face for her.She said yes, and we went into the bathroom. I filled the sink with warm water, she took off her shirt, left her bra on,wet her face, put shaving cream on her face, got a new razor, wet the razor, and started to shave her with small strooks. After I was done, I washed her face, dryed her face, and out moisturizing lotion on her face. She love having a clean face,so she could put her make-up on. We now live together and I shave her face once a week. Thank you,Russell
ReplyDeleteAmanda , this breaks my heart that you want to die because of hair. Dying is serious and Is something you can't change once it happens. I want to say if your man loves you than who cares. I for one feel the same way about my weight (Not dying though). I can't have sex with the light on and don't like my husband to see me naked. My only sanity is Jesus!!
ReplyDeleteThere has to be an answer to your problem? Please don't say such things because it hearts my heart that you are that sad. I am Yugoslavian and have dark hair. I have had chin hair since I was a teenager. After my girls I got more hairs. I have 2 ugly scars and 2 moles I don't like. We all have issues and have secrets to deal with. I will pray for an answer to your problem.

I Am Shocked At The Amount Of Hate On Here. It Was Clearly Stated THat Shaving Is Not For Everyone, Dont Shave The Upper Lip, CHin, Etc. It Is A Choice. Do The Research And Decide For Yourself. I Enjoy It As A Part Of My At-Home Facial. It Make The Skin Feel Great And Has Helped My Acne. The " Stubble That You Feel Is From The Hair Growing Back. Give It A Couple Of Dayz And You Should Be Fine. If It Grows Back Dark, You Have An Underlying Issue And Should See A Doctor.
ReplyDeleteI REALLY want to try shaving my face. I have PCOS and hair on my cheeks, it completely destroys my confidence. My self esteem is already so low, I'm afraid of shaving my hair and having it feel stubbly and having to shave every morning as maintenance. Does anyone with PCOS shave their cheeks and have some insight as to what happens long term? I know it won't grow back thicker, but will it feel thicker and look obvious because of the blunt edges?
ReplyDeleteYeah, shaving doesn't affect the hair in one way or another, but it also means that by simply cutting the hair, it is possible that the thickest ones, those with a great difference between base and tip, look thicker and feel stubbly because of the blunt edges if you don't bother to take it off up to every other day, depending on how fast they grow. If it's just fuzz, however dark and visible, I don't think there is this problem. This problem is more typical of the heavily androgenized "terminal" ones, often on the chin or on the cheeks near it. If they are very sparse you can shave them with no problem and forget them for a bit longer, but if they are relatively thick (as frequency), you might want to shave them more often, unless you treat them separately and have them waxed or lasered.
Deletebye.
not really adding anything other than find what works for you.
ReplyDeletehirsuitism + genetics makes for a wonderful thing. :S went to a specialist and really, there was nothing appealing about taking the topical creams. orally or topical, you have to stop all of that stuff if you get pregnant, so big thumbs' up there.
been bleaching for years, normally once a week. would pluck the worst of the chin hairs, but it got to the point of OCD and damaging my skin.
decided to try laser. hah. not really ideal. had chin tip (where i would pluck 2 dozen hairs) and neck done - it definitely helped on the neck, but even with 7 treatments, did not get all of the darker hair. the chin, i'm pretty sure it didn't even make a dent - granted, blonder hairs, white hairs, not so effective, but i still have a lot of dark hairs there. not worth the discounted rate, even. i even had electrolysis on the few stiff white hairs that the laser was unable to get - yeah, please, never again. i didn't fully comprehend what electrolysis was - jabbing a needle into my pores is not my idea of fun.
but it did show me that there was nothing wrong with shaving. i wasn't going to break out in razor burn or cuts. the hair was going to be there just like any other method.
in general, i found a balance between bleaching the cheek and upper lip, use a beard trimmer to keep the heavy fuzz short (i would rather all over fuzz than having to shave from the eyebrows down), and then whatever disposable blade is handy for the chin/neck - sharp blades, short strokes, and go with the hair.
i have been debating using a lotion/cream for shaving to see if i get a longer shave out of it. normally, i have stubble i can feel/hear within 8 hours. i did steal the boyfriend's noroco 3-foil and that was niiiiice, but stubble just as fast. i just keep razors stashed around for quick touch ups on long days and feel much less self conscious. and don't waste money on many many blades - short little stokes means less burn and more control.
and who says the men have to have all the fun?? dollarshaveclub.com
i am 13 years old once i did shaving with razor but my mom scolded me and told me tat it would again grow more and it will grow like boys, is it true???????????????? ,if s how to avoid it pls reply me
ReplyDeleteLadies, especially those of you who are tan, golden, brown or chocolate brown. Please, please try threading and sweet sugaring (very sticky sugaring, as opposed to basic sugaring). I started doing this a young girl as a cultural thing. When I started my menses and then wearing my hair loose as opposed to it being braided, I always did sugaring. My legs, arms, armpits, privates. I am an older woman now with minimal hair growth. It is partly genetic, but I depil my body only once a month or every 6 weeks. Facially, I continue with sugaring and threading, an used a tweezer for very stubborn hair. I don't think that shaving is good for women's faces. The skin on our face is not the same as the skin on our arms or legs. It is subject to everything -- sun, wind, cold, dirt. I also never had acne or have wrinkles on my legs or arms like I have/had on my face. Be gentle all the time to your face. Keep razors away from it. Be careful with depil creams also. If you shave, it may not make you more hairy, but it will not be good for the facial skin. I was impatient once and shaved the fine hairs under my chin. I had to do lemon treatment for weeks to get rid of the hyperpigmentation on my beautiful brown skin. Never again. This technique like lasers might work for our fair skinned sisters, but any lady with a slightest tan should go gently with extreme caution with a razor. And always remember to SPF.
ReplyDeleteOmgggg people. I have been shaving my face for 16 years now. Yes, I shave everyday, but it's my best kept beauty secret! I do NOT get a 5 o clock shadow. If I let my hair grow I DO get a little shocked, but it's obviously because I haven't seen my face with hair growth in many years. I am 28. I started shaving my face for a reason right? For having a hairy face! I can't be shocked and blame having a hairy face (if I let it grow out) because I shaved! Is it darker? Well it seems that way, but if I think of how my face used to be it's not very different at all. It makes sense that it would get darker over the years with hormones.
ReplyDeleteHave any of you who say shaving has left you needing to shave everyday, and with stubble considered letting your hair grow out and trying a new method again. Such as going back to waxing!?!? Shaving cuts the hair blunt. Of course you will see it faster then after a wax which pulls the hair out. I for one have to wax or pluck anyway. I always have stubble of some sort it doesn't matter what method I use. Shaving is just another tool in my hair removal process. Some of us are just hairy.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you that say you wish you never would have shaved, why not just let it grow back to the way it was before? Wouldn't that be the simplest solution? The hair may look thicker because it is blunt but after a few days won't it look like it did prior to shaving or will it keep growing and get long?
ReplyDeleteI started trimming and shaving fine blonde hairs on my chin and upper lip when I was about 15 because someone made fun of me for it... When they saw me in direct sunlight. Thinking back to it now, it was not nearly as bad as they made it seem and I wish I had the confidence to leave it alone then. I stopped the upper lip after 2 or 3 times, but continued with the hair on my chin because it was a little longer. Once light and fine, a little longer than "normal", nearly 10 years later, the hairs grow back in thicker (maybe from the blunt cut) and a few are actually darker. I cannot say this is from trimming and shaving alone, maybe I would have grown in the few darker hairs anyway, but even when I do let the regular hairs grow back, there definitely seems to be more than 10 years ago. They also grow back in funny directions, which make them even more noticeable... I've tried Nair and waxing, but my skin gets very irritated and breaks out.
ReplyDeleteI think it is safe to conclude that you have to make sure you have the perfect type of skin with minimal hair to begin with, and perhaps the consultation from a dermatologist before trying to shave. Everyone's reaction is going to be uniquely different based on multiple factors, but I can say that I certainly had no real issue before I began playing around with it.
Hi, well you are 25 now, it's normal having more hair than at 15, not because of shaving. Don't be self consious about it, if you don't like them you can keep shaving :).
DeleteInteresting post. It seems like a lot of women shave the fine hair on their face for beauty and other reasons.
ReplyDeleteMy dear girls and ladies, NEVER BE ASHAMED that you have facial hair. Millions of women do! It's just very problematic and can make us feel shameful because the hair can be dark, thick and coarse...like a man's beard and it is horrible to deal with! But that doesn't make us less beautiful or feminine! Now, do you want to get rid of it? Of course!
ReplyDeleteBottom line, we women with this type of hair don't have "peach fuzz" we have terrible, course, brittle, man-like beards that can cause bumps, in-grown hairs on our faces just like man can get. For THIS type of hair, WAXING, LASER HAIR REMOVAL or a professional is the best thing. If all you can do is shave, by all means shave and I hope it works for you, my loves.
Note: Shaving is on the SURFACE of your skin. It does not make your hair thicker! Sure it can feel stubbly just as the hair on your legs/underarms feels when it grows in. BUT it will NOT grow in "thicker" just because you shave it. I worked in a laser hair removal clinic and plastic surgeon's office for years. I saw girls and women all ages cry over their thick, dark facial hair. It can be devastating, but find what works best for you and go with it. I do think the very coarse, dark hair is best removed by waxing, laser hair removal (or maybe "No-No" I haven't tried that). YOU are a beautiful, FEMININE, PRECIOUS GIFT on this earth. NEVER be ashamed of having to shave every day if you do have to. Blessings in finding what works best for you, my loves!
i have peach fuzz on my cheeks & i've noticed that my make up doesn't look "flawless" . i think it's because of the peach fuzz on my cheeks . any suggestions ? should i shave my cheeks or stay away from that ?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't shave but that is just my opinion!
DeleteI am 28 years old, mother of 2. I had a cousin and sister who thought we had unwanted dark hairs growing on our necks and stomachs. They began this cycle when i was 13. It has been 15 years that i have been tweezing my natural unibrow (german), unnatural happy trail and now have unnatural dark thick spurratic hairs on my neck chin and upper lip. Tweezing the hairs definately cause them to grow back thicker and darker. If you have white skin and individual dark hairs, i reccomend using EPILA laser diode. This has helped me reducing the darkness and growth of the hair at all. I also shave my entire face and neck because i have a lot of noticable peach fuzz. When i was younger the hairs on my face laid natturally and softly. Since shaving for 10 years, my peach fuzz is spikey and uneven. It does not lay flat on my skin when ot grows back. I am praying god creates a way for permanent hair removal on all spectrums. Not just for white skin dark hair laser surgery! Shaving tweezing and home laser removal are my only options at this point. Some days i dont want to go out in public and i have lost many relstionships because of these issues. Its sad that hair can seemingly control our thoughts and actions by just its mere existance. We have to let go of americans standard view of beautiful and come into your own. Allow yourself to accept the body you have been given and let your mind be free of judgment of others. I know what each and every one of you are going through. Say a prayer for you mental state and for your physical well being so your spirit can shine. Dont allow hair to defeat you.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to be rude by any means but I have never heard of a woman shaving her face! I have peach fuzz too and it bothers me terribly but I use different things on my upper lip and the only other thing is that just recently I have noticed on my cheeks it has become a little darker so it's bothering me more. I don't know what I'm going to do and I'm not even sure why all of a sudden it has gotten darker but I know I will never shave, I've never had issues with makeup or my facial products so just trying to decide I guess!
ReplyDeleteThreading works really well if you'd rather not shave your face! I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. If a girl starts shaving will it leave a shadow? For example, on the upper lip?
ReplyDeleteBeen doing it for years, no shadow, but I do it every day or every 2nd day. Also shave my chin with no shadow.
DeleteSo for those of you women who claim you have a five o clock shadow and that shaving was the worst mistake of your life... What kind of razor were you using? If you are using razors with more than one blade then yea you will get a shadow! You aren't supposed to use regular men's or women's razors for peach fuzz. That's why your getting razor burn and the follicles are becoming inflamed from it. Use a one bladed brow razor! It takes me less than a minute to shave. I only shave my side burns but they do not grow back thicker at all. Of course it grows back, but not like a five o clock shadow. You are probably using the wrong razor!! I've been doing this for 3 years and I am Spanish with dark facial hair and light skin. I don't have to shave every day. Stop using regular razors and use one meant for your face (brow razor)
ReplyDeleteIf it's any consolation, Prevention Magazine says it's perfectly ok for women to shave their faces. That magazine is very reliable when it comes to health and fitness advice. There are even commercial shavers for women but they're sold in the Asian markets. I tried to order one from the Phillips company but they said they're not for sale in the USA. I think that's ridiculous! Sounds to me like the American beauty industry wants to make women spend a lot more money in salons instead of being about to DIY. So I shave moustache and chin as the need arises (usually every 3-5 days) and have been doing so since my mid-40s. I'm now 53. Not currently in a relationship but trust me if facial hair is gonna put off the guy, then that's not the kind of man you want anyway! Even when I was younger, thinner and hair free on the face, I didn't always have guys beating a path to my door. Sometimes it's got nothing to do with looks the reason why someone doesn't have a boyfriend. Maybe it's just not the right time for a relationship or maybe the guy would prefer a woman who likes herself no matter what? Just a thought...
ReplyDeleteAfter trying many methods of hair removal, I tried shaving my face - please don't put yourself through my pain. I have a barely noticeable mustache but I have to shave every day if I don't want stubble. Also, there are little bumps on my lip because your face has really sensitive skin on it. The only thing worst than a mustache is being able to tell that you removed it! Please. I am just talking from experience - not trying to trick anyone or anything.
ReplyDeleteFace acne is a general problem for ladies over the age of 40. Lot of creams promise to deliver instant relief but not always trustworthy. Natural & Organic products/creams are the best cure for Pimples, Acne or redness. Herbal creams are the best face cream for women over 40.
ReplyDeleteWow I read at least 70% of this tread.
