Model Crush Monday - Angel Josephine Skriver

Danish beauty Josephine Skriver burst into the modeling world at a towering six feet tall with curves that haven't been seen since the super models of the late eighties and early nineties.

Born to gay parents and conceived through IVF, Josephine is a vocal advocate for the LGBT community and dreams of the day when her upbringing by two gay parents won't be a discussion point, but a completely common and normal type of family life.

Josephine has shot with top photographers Mario Testino, Greg Kadel, Tim Walker, Patrick Demarchelier, and Steven Meisel, and has appeared in campaigns for Michael Kors, Tom Ford, Mac Cosmetics, Dior, Balmain, and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty.

After three years working for Victoria's Secret and walking in the annual runway extravaganza, Josephine became an Angel in 2016.

We will see much more of this Danish beauty as she becomes one of the key models for Victoria's Secret and continues to be dominate magazine covers, runways, and campaigns.

Model Crush Monday – French Supermodel Constance Jablonski

La Belle France claims Constance Jablonski, born to a Polish father and French mother in Lille in 1991, as one of their most beautiful supermodels of all time.  A competitive tennis player for nine years, Constance began modeling at age sixteen and was walking international designer runways by age eighteen.

Becoming an Estee Lauder spokesmodel propelled Constance to international fame and recognition, which led to dozens of international magazine covers and fashion campaigns, for brands such as Sonia Rykiel, Nine West, H&M, and Calvin Klein.

With a sexy girl-next-door flair that twinkles with a French insouciance, Constance became a Victoria’s Secret angel in 2010, walking in this year’s 2016 show from Paris.  Who better to highlight French beauty than Constance?  Vive la belle France!

Spring Beauty Forecast for 2017!

The Spring 2017 runways were awash with vibrant colors and a noticeable optimism, and the makeup and hair were no exception.  There were two distinct trends and definitely something for everyone, no matter your personal style.

Easy, breezy fresh-faced beauty was shown to perfection at Tory Burch, with clean, glowing skin and neutral colors set off with air-dried natural hair – literally – what could be easier?  And prettier??  The models were made up with sheer, translucent colors that let their own beauty show through.

The eighties made a comeback with stronger, bolder colors for a dramatic flair at shows such as Victoria Beckham who collaborated with Estee Lauder on a capsule makeup collection.  Bold splashes of color playing up one feature, in this case primary colors on the eyes, kept the trend wearable.

No matter which beauty camp you fall into be prepared for a super colorful, bright, fresh, spring.   Go the natural route and keep things rosy and soft, or make a statement with vibrant slashes of color.  Either way, you will be completely on trend without being trendy.  Perfection.

Model Crush Monday: Boho Goddess Alessandra Ambrosio

Brazilian bombshell Alessandra Ambrosio is in a league of her own, having begun her career twenty years ago at age 14 when she selected as a finalist in the Elite Model Look competition in Brazil, and continuing to this day where is a Victoria’s Secret Angel about to walk in the VS Fashion Show 2016 in Paris.

After appearing on the cover of Elle Brazil at age fifteen she was picked up by Guess? to star in their Millennium campaign.  She began her Victoria’s Secret career as the first spokesmodel for VS Pink, and has appeared in countless campaigns and catalogues for the brand, cementing her place amongst their most legendary supermodels.

The mother of two began her own fashion and lifestyle brand in 2014, Alè by Alessandra, with boho goddess style and plenty of sex appeal. With countless covers, runway shows, editorials, and campaigns, she is never far from the public eye.  In fact her Instagram account is full of images of her children, beach life, campaigns, and loads of behind-the-scenes shots, all for her 7.3 million followers.

While not necessarily looking to become an actress, Alessandra has had plenty of on screen time on TV, appearing in episodes of Entourage, Project Runway, and America’s Next Top Model, How I Met Your Mother, and New Girl, and in film in the James Bond film Casino Royale.

Alessandra is the National Ambassador of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a cause close to her heart. We cant wait to see her walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2016 from Paris, as she proves that there is no age limit to beauty and sex appeal.  No doubt there will be lots of insider photos on her Instagram.  Go Alè!!

Winter Skin Beauty Hacks: Keep Glowing While It’s Snowing

Looking a little too red and rosy?  Is your skin feeling like it might crack if you smile?  Lips looking a little like a dried up desert?  If you are still using your same beauty products in the winter that you use the rest of the year, you might be causing a lot of these issues yourself.  Our skin has vastly different needs in the winter in reaction to the environment: drying indoor heating, going from very cold air to very warm air, biting winds, and lots of layers piled up around our faces makes our skin vulnerable and in need of a little extra TLC.  Switching to products that help your skin retain moisture and don’t strip the skin is critical and will help you keep glowing all winter long.

Like every beauty routine you have to start with the basics.  Wash your face with a creamy product that moisturizes as is removes makeup and impurities, and is less harsh than regular cleansers on the skin.  Twice a week exfoliate your skin with a gentle scrub to remove dry skin.

Apply moisturizer while your face is still damp as it will lock in moisture and plump up the skin.  Look for moisturizers that contain ceramides, peptides, and hyaluronic acid all of which help retain skins moisture levels and help create a strong barrier against the elements.

A little skin treat that goes a long way is a face mask and this is the perfect time to indulge.  Apply a face mask while you soak in the bath so that your pores open up making the mask much more effective.  For a list of masks and the skin issues they treat see my post The Face This Ultimate Guide to Face Masques.  You can also raid your pantry for natural alternative masks.  Masks are a great way to combat redness, to give your skin an extra boost of hydration, to exfoliate away dry skin and to get glowing.

Just because the days are shorter and we are much more covered up does not mean you can skip a high SPF.  Protect your skin from UVA/UVB rays that still make it through winter skies, and light that reflects off of snow.  And don’t forget your lips – the skin on lips is often the first part of the face to show signs of winter stress, as we constantly lick our lips because of drying wind or indoor heating, so be sure to use a basic scent-free lip butter at night (lip products with a flavor or fragrance can be more drying), and use a creamy lip product or tinted lip balm with SPF during the day.

Simply switching up the products you use can make a huge difference to your winter skin and banish a lot of skin troubles away.  Being consistent is important to keep you glowing like it is spring, and less like a certain red-nosed reindeer.  And don’t forget to hydrate from the inside by drinking lots of H20 to replenish the moisture in your skin, keeping it plump. Just because it is winter does not mean you have to forgo the glow.
